Finding a keto-friendly taco seasoning that doesn’t contain cornmeal, corn starch, sugar, or any other fillers might be a headache if you’re on a ketogenic diet.

Most manufactured taco spices contain lots of additives. These carbohydrate-dense fillers might undermine your low-carb diet plans.

That’s why I use this easy taco seasoning blend for shrimp fajitas or as a seasoning for Instant Pot Carne Asada if I’m in a pinch.

Tips/FAQ

How many servings are in the whole batch?

This recipe makes approximately 2 cups of mix. Add 2 Tbsp of the taco seasoning for every 1 pound of meat.  Use more or less depending on your preferences.

How do I make a small batch instead?

Combine the following ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp of ground cumin
  • pinch salt (to your preferences)
  • pinch pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to your liking)

How to use with meat/fajitas/tacos:

Cook your meat and drain the fat, then add your taco seasoning along with about ¼ – ½ cup of water.

Storage

The best way to store bulk seasonings is in a sealed, air-tight jar or individual bags. As long as you’re keeping air and moisture out of the mix, it should keep for months.

Seasoning should be stored in a well sealed container for optimal freshness.
